Hi Friends --
Back when I was leaving base camp I put out a friendly request for your favorite books, shows, podcasts, and music. So we have to pause here and talk about books, which is to say your hearts. Because no book has arrived casually. No. These books have arrived with notes like: "Trust me. This is will change your life." Or: "No really. Trust me. I mean really trust me you simply have to read this." And sometimes with a most serious whisper: "You'll thank me later."
I have no idea if you can zoom in here in the land of Caring Bridge, but please take a gander at the titles on all of these spines, a sampling of what's arrived to my doorstep in recent days. What I have here in these stacks are the passions of my forever eclectic and extended community of good souls -- souls who know a life can forever change through a book which arrives just in time.
I mean -- is there anything better than The Mueller Report sitting alongside Anne Lamott?
I plan to read each one -- some will be read as I scale my mountain, and many more after the summit. I can't think of a better reading list both for the climb, and all the life to be lived post-mountain.
I'm starting with Jill Lepore's "These Truths." 960 glorious pages baby. I'm on page 16, and yes, I'm pacing myself.
For all the book senders, thank you. You all are big, bold readers, with generous hearts -- hearts who have experienced the magic of an important book and who know there's not much better than inviting in another to sit at the same table for the chance to talk all about it. Someday we will.
In the meantime, I'll just note I'm feeling quite well. The days following Foxy 2.0 have been full of good work, restful nights, long strolls, the best kinds of talks with dear friends, and oh yes, books.
Foxy 3.0 next week. We'll do podcasts next.
xoxo
